ART DEPARTMENT COORDINATOR
Sharon’s Detroit Based Production Company: 1ROOT PRODUCTIONS
One of the original founders of Sweetbreadstudios, Sharon Roggio has always had a passion for storytelling through the visual arts.
While attending film school at Rowan University in Glassboro New Jersey, Roggio secured an internship at Banyan Productions in Philadelphia and worked on TLC’s A Wedding Story. It was during her internship that she gravitated towards producing and quickly became a valuable member of the production team. The internship turned into contracted positions for the show and other programs associated with the company including Fox’s Ambush Makeover.
Although the opportunities were there for her in Reality Based Television in Philadelphia, Roggio was looking for something more, to stay true to her calling to the media arts of storytelling. That is when Roggio met up and coming Theatre and Film Writer/Director and Co-Founder of UNCUT Productions, Jena Serbu.
Roggio worked as a Production Manager and Producer for UNCUT Productions over the next 2 years. The growth of the company led to the birth of the sister company Sweetbreadstudios.
In the spring of 2006, Roggio moved to Michigan to further her career and the growth of the company. Her journey led her to commercial production. As a Line Producer, Roggio worked on half million dollar campaigns ranging from Health Care, PSA’s and the cable giant Comcast. She also produced educational documentaries for Films Media Group, a global leader in visual education.
Since Michigan’s film incentive, Roggio delved hard into filmmaking. In 2008 Roggio worked on 3 feature films as Production Coordinator (Prayers for Bobby) and Art Department Coordinator (“Whip It” and “Virgin on Bourbon Street”). The start of 2009 looks promising for Michigan film work.
As a partner of Sweetbread Studios, Roggio claims to bring their developing feature works to the big screen, along with many promising TV/Web Series.
